In early 2002, after identifying the growing demand for studies in Information Technology, the University decided to start the MCA course in the Computer Centre. A three-year (six-semester) regular MCA program was launched in 2002, utilizing the infrastructure of the Computer Centre, under the name "MCA Study Centre."
This study center was later transformed into a regular postgraduate department and renamed the "University Department of Computer Applications." Currently, UDCA continues to conduct the MCA course, providing quality education in the field of computer applications.
Approval and Recognition:
After obtaining a no-objection certificate from the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Bihar, the University sought approval from the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. Following an inspection of the department's infrastructure, AICTE granted its initial approval in 2004 (Letter No. PG/MCA/BIH/2004 dated 11/05/2004) for an intake of sixty students.
The Hon'ble Chancellor of the Universities of Bihar approved the draft ordinance for the MCA course under section 38/(4) of the Bihar State University Act, 1976 (as amended). This was communicated by the Governor's Secretariat, Bihar, via letter no. TMBU-16/2003-941/GS (I) dated 06/03/2006.
